Interests

Apart from Computer Science, I like to spend a lot of time outside. Whether it's playing tennis, going on a walk/hike with friends, sitting and soaking up some sun, or trying new restaurants, I always try to set aside time for something in nature.

When forced indoors, I enjoy practicing piano, reading dystopian books, novels, and even some classics. I am currently trying to improve my chess skills, but I also love playing word or card games. In addition to always listenting to and finding new music, I always keep up with the news, especially articles concerning new technologies!

Assessing Alignment Methods in Metagenomics (Technica Research Track 2023)

- With the goal of finding the best method to discover common origins, activated an Anaconda environment and used sequence alignment tools [ex. BWA, BBMap] to run microbiome samples from cutibacterium acnes in comparison to reference genomes for identical DNA/protein sequences through self-written Bash scripts
- Used computational analysis to extract data and presented to judges on how to examine results for indicators of time efficiency and alignment rates in order to decide which tool is most beneficial
- Concluded that BBMap was better overall due to decently high alignment rates with mostly efficient times
